LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena outshot Canisius 17-1 en route to a 2-0 victory over the Golden Griffins Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Saints improve to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the MAAC, which puts them in a tie for third-place.
Lindsay McSharry (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth N. Central) opened the scoring late in the first half off an assist from Sarah Shumway (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay).
Siena's leading scorer Erin Beam (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink) notched her fourth goal of the season early in the second half. With 14 points, Beam is sixth in the MAAC in scoring.
Noel Cox (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) didn't have to make a save in picking up her sixth shutout of the season. Cox lowered her goals against average to 1.04, second in the MAAC. Christine Moran made six saves for Canisius (3-10-1, 2-5-1 MAAC).
The Saints go for the weekend sweep tomorrow morning. It will be Senior Day as the Saints host Niagara at 11 a.m.
