LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Michelle Fraser scored three minutes into the second overtime to spark Siena (6-4, 2-1 MAAC) to a 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon. The Saints extended their winning streak to six games and snapped the Pioneers own six-game winning streak.
Fraser (Medford, Mass./Arlington Catholic) finished a loose ball that had been headed past the goalie by Erin Beam (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink). It was Beam's second game-winning assist of the week. Colleen Smyth also picked up an assist on the game-winning goal by heading the ball to Beam.
Freshman Noel Cox (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) notched her fourth shutout of the season, going all the way and making five saves. Leslie Konsig made three saves for the Pioneers (6-5, 6-0 NEC).
The win was Siena's third straight in overtime after going 0-4-2 in six overtime games last year. The Saints have won six games in a row after dropping four straight to start the season.
Siena goes for lucky number seven on Monday at home against St. Peter's in a 3:30 start.
