Nine Siena Players Named to MAAC All-Academic Team

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - After an outstanding season on the field, the Siena Women's Soccer team was honored for its work off the field as well. Nine Saints players were among the 65 players chosen for the MAAC Women's Soccer All-Academic team.

In order to be chosen, a player must maintain at least a 3.2 grade point average and be a significant starter or reserve.

Erin Beam (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink) was also named to the All-MAAC First-Team. She maintains a 3.53 GPA in mathematics education.

Heather Grant (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) started 17 games on defense. She is a biology major with a 3.49 GPA.

Erin Hutnick (Herndon, VA/Paul VI) was the team's second-leading scorer with four goals and two assists. She has a 3.90 GPA in accounting.

Jill Lanzl (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) played in only nine games due to an injury. She majors in marketing and management with a 3.60 GPA.

Dana Lawton (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) was also hampered with an injury much of the season. She has a 3.49 GPA in biology.

Lauren Mulligan (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) carries a 3.43 GPA in marketing and management. She missed half the season with an injury as well.

Also sidelined by the injury bug, Michaelyn Shepard (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) has a 3.24 GPA in mathematics education.

Sarah Shumway (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) played in every game, scoring three goals and dishing out two assists. She has a 3.34 GPA and is undeclared.

Allyson Spencer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) played in all 18 games, starting nine. She is a Spanish major with a 3.34 GPA.

The Saints finished the season 10-8 and lost in the quarterfinals of the MAAC Tournament.
