BUFFALO, NY - The Canisius College women's soccer team dropped a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Siena College Friday night, 1-0.
Siena (4-6-2, 2-1-2 MAAC) scored the game's only goal in the 45th minute when freshman midfielder Jill Lanzl (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) put a 10-yard shot past Canisius goalie Amanda Slater to give the Saints a 1-0 lead just before the half.
The Golden Griffins came out firing in the second half but could not break Siena's defense despite eight second-half corner kicks. Slater registered six saves in the loss for the Griffs.
Canisius (1-11-0, 0-4-0 MAAC) hosts another MAAC opponent Sunday afternoon as Marist College takes the field against the Griffs for a 1 p.m. match at the Demske Sports Complex.
