BOSTON, MASS. -- The Siena Saints women's soccer team lost their first game of the season Thursday night as Northeastern shutout the Saints 2-0 in a non-conference matchup at Sweeney Field in Boston, Mass.
Siena (0-1-0) was outshot 17-6 as senior goalie Lisa Miceli (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) was able to hold off 15 of the 17 shots by the Huskies.
For Northeastern, Shannon Dwyer got the Huskies on the board first, just after the 40 minute mark, from a brilliant pass courtesy of Amy Devendorf. Off a free kick, Devendorf sailed the ball over the heads of Siena defenseman perfectly to Dwyer who scored just the second goal of her Husky career.
With only two minutes remaining in the opening half, the Huskies struck again, this time off a corner kick by Michelle Carberry. Caitlin Springer headed Carberry's corner kick in for the NU's second and final goal of the night.
The Saints will next be in action Tuesday September 5th in their home opener as they host Sacred HeartGame time is set for 3:30 pm at Siena Field.
