Saints Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference released its preseason soccer coaches polls today and Siena was picked to finish in the middle of the standings.

The Saints, led by coach Steve Karbowski, were selected fifth in the preseason coaches poll with 55 points. Loyola was picked to win the women's title with 97 points, followed by Fairfield (92), Marist (77) and Niagara (58). Rounding out the poll are Iona (51), Manhattan (47), Rider (33), Canisius (26) and St. Peter's (14). This year's women's tournament will be held in Orlando, Florida and all 10 teams will qualify automatically.

The Green and Gold feature eight returning starters from last year's 4-12-2 team. The Siena roster includes 20 freshmen and sophomores among the team's 26 players. The Saints open the season at home against Holy Cross on September 2nd.
