LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.- Laura McSharry scored two first half goals and assisted on another as Holy Cross (1-0) topped Siena College (0-1) in a women's soccer game played at Siena Field on Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders dominated play throughout, jumping out to a 2-0 halftime lead, and out-shooting the Saints 22-4 on the afternoon.

McSharry accounted for all the scoring in the first half, breaking the ice off an assist from Erica Backstrom just 12 minutes and 39 seconds into the game. McSharry's second goal came at the 40 minute mark, unassisted.

The second half unraveled in much the same manner as Erin Patterson found the back of the net for the Crusaders' third goal just 21 seconds after the intermission. The lone bright spot for the Saints came eight minutes later, as Allyson Spencer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) found sophomore Erin Hutnick (Herndon, Va./ Paul VI) for the Saints lone goal. Hutnick's goal was the second of her career.

Holy Cross quickly responded with a goal in the 58th minute by Emily Driscoll. Caitlyn Dwyer scored off reserve goalie Krista Nordmark with just over 10 minutes remaining to push the final margin to 5-1.

Freshman Noel Cox (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) had nine saves in net for the Saints, which return to action at home on Tuesday against Northeastern at 3 p.m.
