LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Northeastern jumped ahead early and never looked back, beating Siena 3-1 Tuesday afternoon at Siena Field.
The Huskies scored just over two minutes into the game on a breakaway goal by Shannon Dwyer. However, the Saints (0-2) came right back less than two minutes later on a perfectly-placed shot from 20 yards away by junior transfer Nicole Orlandella (Peabody, Mass./Champlain College).
Northeastern (1-0) took the lead for good on a goal just over seven minutes into the game by Caitlin Springer. Liz Dyjack found the back of the net midway through the second half to close out the scoring.
Siena stayed in the game thanks to the goaltending of freshman Noel Cox (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) who made 12 saves. Shelly Parkinson stopped four shots for the victors.
The Saints visit Army on Friday before returning home to open the MAAC schedule against Manhattan on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
