Siena Women's Soccer Completes Class of 2006

March 18, 2002

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - After finishing a much-improved 10-8 in the 2001 season, the Siena women's soccer program announced Monday that it has signed two players to join the team in the 2002 fall season.

Corryn Silon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) comes to Siena from the top-ranked high school team in the country in 2001. Silon played on the varsity team for five years and won four state titles. The midfielder also played with the Rockville Centre club team and won five state titles there as well.

"Corry will give us a tremendous presence in the middle of the field. She always has an impact on the game. She's very good defensively and can score goals from a distance or on set plays," said head coach Steve Karbowski.

Alicia Lackey (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) was a Second-Team All-State selection her senior year after scoring 13 goals and dishing out four assists. She was a two-year captain and a four-year varsity letterwinner. Lackey also played on the Clifton Park Premier U-18 team and participated in the Empire State Games as well.

"Alicia is a tenacious player with very good speed and quickness. She excels in 1 vs. 1 situations and will make an impact at Siena on the offensive side of the ball," said Karbowski.

The Saints were the eighth-most improved team in the nation in 2001. Siena returns all but one letterwinner from a team that finished fourth in the MAAC.
