Oct. 18, 2003

Box Score

Quarterback David Bateman connected with wide receivers Sean Simmons and Mark Jepson on touchdown passes as Wagner College defeated Siena College, 34-6, in a non-conference game at Christian Brothers Academy Saturday evening.

Wagner (4-3) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Chris Davis gained 53 yards on a 1st and 10 rushing play to highlight a three play, 65 yard drive capped by Tyshon Henderson's 34-yard rushing touchdown for a 7-0 lead.

Simmons would help Wagner extend the lead to 14-0 two drives later, as he sprinted 26 yards into the Siena end zone after catching a pass from Bateman. Bateman would complete 3-of-3 passes for 56 yards on the next Wagner possession, driving the Seahawks from their 27-yard line to the Siena end zone, where John Barrett's 2-yard scoring run gave Wagner a 21-0 lead with 11:58 remaining in the second quarter.

After Siena (0-7) held Wagner to two 27-yard field goals by Robbie Pate in the third quarter, the Saints got their only score of the night when sophomore tailback Sal Jeraci (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) scored on a 2-yard run with 8:06 remaining in the fourth quarter. Jeraci and teammate Bruce Riggins (Troy, N.Y./Troy) combined for 36 rushing yards to highlight the seven play, 41 yard drive.

Jeraci had his best rushing game of the year, picking up 128 yards on 22 carries to lead the Siena ground game.

Siena will remain at home for the third game of their current five-game homestand to face Saint Peter's at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian Brothers Academy.
