POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - James Luft threw for 268 yards to lead Marist to a 28-14 win over Siena Saturday.
Luft hit six receivers in the effort and ran for a touchdown as Marist gained 352 total yards to Siena's 183 yards. Brad Rowe (76 yards, 11 carries) scored the first touchdown on a 46-yard breakaway in the first quarter.
The game was tied at 14 at halftime, but Luft ran 3 yards for a score early in the third quarter at the end of a 43-yard drive. Marist (2-1) sealed the win with a five-minute, 97-yard drive capped by Alfredo Riullano's 2-yard run that left just 13 seconds left on the clock.
In the first half, Siena came back against Marist. Siena's Brandon Matano returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown to tie the score. Minutes later running back Sal Jeraci broke away for 44 yards on the first play of the series for a touchdown and a 14-7 lead for Siena.
Marist's Guy Smith recovered a fumble in the end zone with seconds remaining to tie the score at half.
For Siena (0-3), Jeraci had a game-high 115 yards on 19 carries and Christian Karolus went 6-for-15 for 79 yards, but was sacked three times. Pat McCormack caught seven passes for 78 yards.
