Binghamton Outlasts Siena Volleyball 3-2

Michele Heck led a balanced Binghamton effort with 18 kills as the Bearcats squeezed past Siena 3-2 in volleyball action contested in Loudonville Sunday. Freshman Nadiege Honore came off the bench to amass a team-high 19 kills in a losing effort for Siena.

Binghamton began the match with a commanding 30-19 victory in game one, but the Saints responded with a convincing 30-24 score in the second game. The Bearcats continued the seesaw effort with a 30-28 triumph in the third game, but the Saints bounced back with a 30-26 win to force the decisive fifth game.

In the fifth game, the Bearcats built an early 7-4 advantage, and the Saints could get no closer than 10-9 the rest of the way before succumbing 15-10.

Christie Gustafson finished off her strong week with 18 kills and 17 digs in a losing effort. Freshman Janine Pesusich added 12 kills for the Saints.

Jen Smith and Jacki Kane joined Heck with double digit kills for Binghamton. The Bearcats dominated play at the net, collecting 30 blocks to 20 for Siena. The Saints, now 7-9 on the season, make their Western New York swing to Niagara and Canisius next weekend.
