The Siena women's golf team won the Lehigh Invitational, which concluded today at the Indian Valley Country Club (par 72, 5,779 yards) in Telford, Pa. The Saints shot a 338 on the final day for a tournament total of 668 (+92). Host Lehigh University finished second with a three-day total of 689 (+113).
"The team played great," Siena Head Coach Theresa Wenzel said. "It was tough competition as well as challenging weather conditions. We led pretty much wire-to-wire. I'm proud of the way the team played. We have some momentum now and we hope to carry that into the rest of the season."
Junior Jillian Blanchard and sophomore Laura Woolgar led the team finishing in a second-place tie with a score of 162. Blanchard shot a tournament-low 77 on Sunday, while Woolgar carded a final round of 84.
Freshman Melissa Agostinelli finished in a tie for fourth overall. Agostinelli shot an 84 (+12) on Monday for a three-day total of 165. Sophomore Samantha Rossi tied for ninth with a three-day total of 179 after shooting 89-90 -179 (+35). Rounding out the Saints victory, junior Rachel Scalzo tallied a 187 for a two-day total.
The Saints continue fall competition at the Hofstra Invitational on Oct. 14.
