Oct. 29, 2004

Final Stats

Sophomore Kristen Turner scored three first-half goals and visiting Siena defeated Saint Peter's, 5-2, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's college soccer Friday afternoon.

Turner scored the first, third and fourth goals of the game as Siena (9-7-1 overall, 6-1-1 MAAC) built a 5-0 lead in the first 41 minutes. Saint Peter's (1-17, 0-8 MAAC) came back for two unanswered goals in the second half.

The Saints took control early, as Turner opened the scoring just 19 seconds into the game, assisted by Sarah Hopkins.

Siena would outshoot Saint Peter's in the first half, 12-4, but the second goal didn't come until 27:20, when Erin Morine scored, assisted by Megan Helf. Turner made it 3-0 just 32 seconds later, with an assist from Corry Silon.

Turner completed the hat trick in the 36th minute, with Amy Loughridge assisting and then Helf scored at 40:59, assisted by Katie Mulligan.

The shots in the second half were nearly a reversal of the first half. Where Siena had a 12-4 advantage in the first 45 minutes, Saint Peter's outshot the visitors in the second half, 12-5.

Freshman Kyle Marsh got the Peahens on the board with her team-leading fourth goal of the season at 54:01. Laura Gubitosa notched her second goal of the season in the 68th minute, pulling Saint Peter's to a 5-2 deficit. Alison Regler assisted on both Saint Peter's goals. Her fifth assist on the season lead the Peahens.

Both teams used two goalkeepers. For Siena, Noel Cox went the first 53:22, making four saves without allowing a goal. Sophomore Carey Winkler, in her first action of the season, played the last 36:38 and made two saves, while allowing both Saint Peter's goals.
