Women's Soccer Defeats Sacred Heart 1-0

Freshman midfielder Kara Sefcik produced her first collegiate in a 1-0 win for Siena (2-4-0) Friday afternoon over Sacred Heart (1-5-0) at the University at Albany in the first round of the Governor's Cup.

Sefcik wasted no time to get on the board for the Saints at the 77th minute with a header off cross from teammate forward Kirsten Turner. The Saints and Pioneers battled through a scoreless second half as the Pioneers racked up 14 shots to the Saints six attempts.

Saints goalkeeper Noel Cox collected her first shutout with five saves. Pioneers goalkeeper Ashley Morcarski recorded three saves.

Forward Nathalie Urbas led the Pioneers with four shots, while Sarah Hopkins had two.

The Saints continue play in the Governors Cup against Columbia University at 2 p.m.
