In what was marked as one of the toughest tournaments of the year, Siena College women's golf team finished 10th in the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club on Sunday afternoon. After battling all weekend, the Saints closed out the two-day tournament with a second-round team score of 359 for a 701 total. The Saints shot 342 in the first round.
Freshman Bridget Erwin led the way for the Saints as she finished tie for 31st after firing rounds of 81-89 for a 170 total. Junior Jillian Blanchard and sophomore Megan Angis followed Erwin as they tied for 45th for a 177 total. Sophomores Samantha Rossi and Laura Wooglar rounded out the Saints at 50th and 57th place, respectively.
"This was a great challenge for us, the girls worked together and pulled in some good scores. They really hung in there all weekend", said Head Coach Theresa Wenzel.
Host Princeton won the event with a 315-306-621, Yale was second (320-322-642), Georgetown was third (331-318-649), Princeton B was fourth (320-332-652) and Pennsylvania rounded out the Top 5 teams with 328-327-655.
Siena's next competition will be Oct. 9- 11 at the Lehigh Invitational.
