Nadiege Honore had game highs with 12 kills and 12 digs, and Siena's middle combined to kill 12 of its 17 attacks as the Saints had little trouble with visiting Quinnipiac in a 3-0 win at the Alumni Recreation Center Sunday afternoon. The Saints limited the Bobcats to just one kill in the first game, setting the tone for three easy wins.
The Saints stormed past Quinnipiac 30-15 in the first game behind the strong serving of Christie Gustafson. Gustafson had three service aces, and several other services that led to quick Siena points. The Saints took the second game 30-23 and the decisive third 30-18.
Freshman setter April London put in another tremendous effort for the Saints. London had 28 assists, five aces and three kills. Many of those assists went to Honore, who unloaded several powerful kills at the 10-foot line.
When not passing to the outside, London made efficient use of her middle hitters. Senior Liz Hubbard had seven kills in just 10 attempts, and sophomore Janine Pesusich had five kills in seven attempts.
Freshman Amy Lakatos also played one of her top matches to date, killing seven of 16 attempts and registering seven digs.
Conde Stephanie and Kalyn Hundley each had five kills in a losing effort for Quinnipiac.
Siena hosts UAlbany Tuesday in the ARC.
