The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team extended its winning ways by posting wins in 11 of 13 events Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 171-56 decision over Siena. Saints' freestyle specialist Ashley Serrago won the 50 and 100 freestyle events, besting UB with times of 25.34 and 54.73 respectively.
Junior Julie Marcotte set the tone in the first race of the meet which was the 400 medley relay, as she swam the third leg in UB's first-place finish with a time of 4:11.96. Marcotte also set season-highs in the 200 individual medley, placing first with a time of 2:12.24, and in the 100 breaststroke, placing second with a time of 1:10.19. She earned 24 points for UB.
Also continuing her success this season is junior Kahla Walkinshaw, who placed first in both the 1,000 freestyle and the 100 backstroke with times of 10:32.89 and 1:03.10, respectively.
Other first place finishes included Buffalo senior Jackie English who swam the 200 freestyle in 2:00.81 and junior Jennifer Skerker who set a pesonal-best in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.65. Freshman Sarah Abbott placed first in her first 500 freestyle race with a time of 5:27.82 and junior Danielle Gervais earned points in the 100 breaststroke, placing first with a time of 1:09.49.
The diving events featured freshman Megan Stratton earning first-place accolades with personal-best 244.57 in the one-meter diving to take home first place honors. She also won the three-meter event with 206.25 points.
