Final Stats
Ashlee Reed led three UAlbany players in double figure kills with 16, and the Great Danes got four service aces from Eileen Nicole Rodriguez in a 3-0 win over Siena in women's volleyball action Tuesday night in Loudonville. Christie Gustafson led Siena's balanced attack with 11 kills.
UAlbany (14-2) jumped out to a big lead in the first game and coasted to a 30-20 win. The second game was competitive throughout, and the Saints (10-8) made a late charge behind setter April London's serving, but fell short 30-27. UAlbany pulled away for a 30-21 win in the third game.
Siena shot itself in the foot with 15 service errors, but was much more effective in its set offense than it was in last year's meeting between the two schools. The Saints posted a .214 attack percentage as Liz Hubbard and Nadiege Honore had nine and eight kills respectively.
Ashley Hunter and Shelby Goldman had 12 and 10 kills for the Great Danes which registered a .214 attack percentage.
Both liberos played extremely well as UAlbany's Ashley DeNeal led all players with 13 digs and Siena freshmen Kathi Kobayashi had several sprawling stops among her 12 digs.
Blair Buchanan had 36 of UAlbany's 40 assists. April London had all 28 of Siena's assists.
The Saints get little rest as they open MAAC play Wednesday night in a Time Warner telecast game against Marist at 7 p.m. in Loudonville.
