Women's Swimming Earns Split In Double Dual Meet

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's swimming team opened up the home schedule with a split, defeating Canisius 87-47 and losing to Wagner 65-56, at the Siena Swim Center this afternoon in a double dual meet.

Siena got off to a strong start finishing first in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.80. Swimming for the Saints was Shanna Allen (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Kaitlin Krause (Huntington, N.Y.), Dana Golino (Milford, Conn.) and Ashley Serrago (Hauppauge, N.Y.).

The Green and Gold took first and second place in the 100 Back. Golino (1:00.42) paced Siena and she was closely followed by Allen (1:03.69). Serrago won the 50 Free (28.92) and the 100 Free (56.06). Allen finished first in the 200 Back while teammates Kaitlin Kruse (2:33.20) and Dana Golino (1:00.52) were the first to complete the 200 Breast and the 100 Fly respectively.

In the 1000 Free, Wagner's Shannon Johnston (10:46.69) and Alyssa Montgomery (11:00.79) finished first and second respectively. The Seahawks also took first and second in the 200 Free, Kate Wilson (2:00.55) and Colleen Bowman (2:04.34), 200 Fly, Alexandra Tomlison (2:14.60) and Nicole Padunno, 500 Free, Julie Gardner (5:22.32) and Colleen Bowman (5:24.21), and the 200 Individual Medley, Jess Radka (2:15.90) and Shannon Johnston (2:17.79).

Canisius got its lone first place finish for swimming events in the 100 Breast. Elisabeth Burn paced the pool with a 1:11.70 finish time. The Golden Griffins stood unopposed in the diving events. Both Kaeli Abdo and Adrienne Bryerton dove from the 1M board with Abdo also diving from the 3 M board.

The Saints next meet is at the Siena Swim Center on December 3 as they host Fairfield and Sacred Heart in another double dual meet. The first event is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
