Holy Cross Holds off Siena Swimming 148-107

Nov. 2, 2005

Final Stats

Ashley Serrago swam to her third consecutive victories in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle and placed second in the 100 free but Holy Cross emerged from the water with a 148-107 non-conference win over the Saints in Worcester Wednesday night. Dana Golino was the only other Saints to win an event, claiming the 200-yard backstroke in 2:12.70.

Holy Cross began the meet with a five-second victory in the 200-yard medley relay and carried that momentum to wins in the first four individual events. Maddie Alanis won the 1000 yard free, Dana Jorgensen took the 200-yard free, Emily Ferris narrowly edged out Golino to win the 100 yard backstroke and Jen Knapp took the 100 yard breaststroke.

Serrago took the 50-yard freestyle in 25.18. Teammate Megan Dobbins finished third in 26.28. In her next event, Serrago blitzed the competition, completing the 100-yard freestyle in 56:15. Golino followed with a convincing score in the 200-yard backstroke. She later finished second in the 100-yard butterfly.
