Final Stats

Sophomore outside hitter Nadiege Honore (Naparima Girls H.S./San Fernando, Trinidad) recorded a match-high 24 kills and hit .452 to lead Siena College (14-11, 4-2) to its fourth straight win, a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory over Loyola College (7-21, 1-5) at Reitz Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints earned the victory with scores of 30-28, 30-27 and 32-30. It was Loyola's fourth straight loss and fifth consecutive MAAC setback.

After Loyola jumped out to a 17-15 lead in the first game, the Saints rallied by scoring the next four points to gain a 19-17 advantage. Siena extended its cushion to as much as four before the Greyhounds tied the game at 26-26 on a Saints attack error. The teams exchanged points to keep the score tied at 27-27 before Honore led the Saints to the victory by serving three of the final four points in the game, which ended on a kill by junior Christie Gustafson (Gates Chili H.S./Rochester, N.Y.).

Siena used a strong performance in the second game from Gustafson to record a 30-27 victory over the Greyhounds. She had seven kills and hit .462 in the frame to lead Siena to a .326 hitting percentage. There were 11 ties and six lead changes in the game, which ended with the Saints scoring the final four points, including three kills from Gustafson. The Greyhounds hit .257 in the second game with six attack errors offsetting 15 kills.

After Loyola took an 11-10 lead in the third game, the Saints countered by scoring four straight points to take a 14-11 advantage as Honore had two kills for Siena. The Saints extended the lead to 20-14 before the Greyhound began to mount a comeback, taking a 30-29 advantage on a Honore attack error. Gustafson tied the game at 30-30 on her 13th kill of the match before senior middle blocker Liz Hubbard (St. Mark's H.S./Newark, Del.) gave the Saints a one-point cushion with a kill. Siena clinched the match when junior Blair Snyder (Northern Valley Regional H.S./Norwood, N.J.) had her attack blocked by Hubbard and Honore.

Honore was one of two Siena players to record double-digit kills as Gustafson added 13 kills and nine digs. Freshman setter April London (Woodbury H.S./Woodbury, Minn.), who was named as the conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, added 38 assists and six digs to go with four kills.

Senior outside hitter Becky Corb (Frank S. Bunnell H.S./Stratford, Conn.) led the Greyhounds with 16 kills and nine digs while senior libero Jamie Arndt (St. Joseph's H.S./Trumbull, Conn.) had a match-high 15 digs.
