RedFoxFan (Poughkeepsie): What will your team have to do in order to be able to challenge Marist in 'The Battle of Route Nine Rivals'? |
 | | Coach Brecht: I think we have to take care of the little things and play together for 60 minutes. |
Syracuse: Why don't you recruit more from Central New York? |
 | | Coach Brecht: The first thing I did when I started at Siena was jump into the recruiting with two feet. I want to attract the best Student-Athletes that want to be part of something special here at Siena. |
Shawn (Schenectady, NY): Do you think Siena will ever be able to compete with schools like UAlbany or Syracuse? |
 | | Coach Brecht: I don't think anyone will confuse Siena and Syracuse this year or next. But we are going to do all the things that Syracuse, Hopkins and Virginia does, day in and day out. So we can first climb to the top of our league and then hope to make a splash outside of our league. |
Eric (Narragansett, RI): What areas does your team need to improve on the most? What have you been most pleased with from your team so far in your time at Siena? |
 | | Coach Brecht: I have been very please with the effort and the commitment from the whole team through the fall, winter and now spring. I think for us to continue making strides we have to have more competition in practice and put the extra time into our skills in the off season and outside of practice time, so we can continue to keep raising the bar on the field. |
Dan (Albany, NY): How has being a head coach been different from being an assistant? What's the biggest difference? Good luck Coach! |
 | | Coach Brecht: As an assistant all you worry about is lacrosse. As a head coach there is more off the field lacrosse related business other then x's and o's, and game planning to attend to on a daily basis. |
Louie (Ravena, NY): How is recruiting coming along, what areas do you recruit in the most, when is the signing period in lacrosse? Best of luck the rest of the season. |
 | | Coach Brecht: I feel recruiting has been going well. I try to recruit the best student-athletes that want to be at Siena. With our location, I have found that we are very popular with players in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. We do have a young man coming in September from Oregon, so my recruiting is National. There are two signing periods for division I. The first is in November and the other is in April. |
Chris (Balltown, NY): Will you have a lacrosse clinic at Siena? I play in high school. |
 | | Coach Brecht: We will have a day camp here on campus August 8-12th. |
Schenectady, NY: Coach, I was able to catch one of your games at Union, is there a difference in playing at a neutral site than at home? |
 | | Coach Brecht: From what I have seen in my short time here at Siena the student body is very supportive at home games. So playing here on campus certainly is a better atmosphere for the team and the fans. |
Connecticut: Tough season. W and L's says a little, what are your plans for the program next season? |
 | | Coach Brecht: Continue to improve in all areas. Keep raising the bar on and off the field. Turn those one goal games around and close the gap with the better programs we play outside of our league. |
Baltimore, MD: How much of a difference is coaching at Siena than it was at Loyola? |
 | | Coach Brecht: There is no real difference in coaching. My daily routine has stayed the same. We are just working to close the gap and raise the bar in the things we do on the field to play at a level in which Loyola plays at. |
Canada: Do you have open house for lacrosse? |
 | | Coach Brecht: I personally don't have an open house for lacrosse. Our admissions office does offer a venue like that throughout the year to find out more information regarding Siena College. |
bob, albany: what is the commitment to lax from administration |
 | | Coach Brecht: I am extremely pleased with the adminitrations commitment to elavate the lacrosse program and very fortunate to be the head coach of a program that is on the rise. Between the administration and the support from the alumni, I am excited with where the future of the Siena Lacrosse program is headed. |
Albany: Have you or still intend on making it any local games? |
 | | Coach Brecht: My staff and I have already been out to many local games and we intend to continue that through the playoffs and Empire tryouts. We want to evaluate and attract the best student-athletes here in the Capitol Region and hope to give them an option of staying home when looking to find a school that gives them what they are wanting, both on the field and in the classroom. |
 | | Coach Brecht: I want to thank everyone who reached out to ask me questions tonight. I would also like to welcome everyone to come over as we close out the season the next two weekends with home games here on campus. This Sunday at 1 PM we host Robert Morris as well as having an alumni barbeque for all the past Siena lacrosse players. Next Saturday April 30th we will host St. Joeseph's on Senior Day for our last home game of the season. |
