Final Stats
Siena came back from a 2-1 deficit in games and made only one attack error in the deciding fifth game to defeat the New Hampshire Wildcats, 26-30, 30-21, 28-30, 30-27, and 15-10 in the fourth match of the 2005 Ocean Bank Invitational at Lundholm Gym. In the nightcap, Florida Atlantic defeated Siena 3-2.
Christie Gustafson led the Saints' attack with 17 kills against UNH, with Nadiege Honore close behind with 16 kills as well as 29 digs, most of any player in the match. April London ran the Siena offense throughout the match, notching 49 assists as well as six kills and seven digs.
The Wildcats lost despite a triple-double from junior Sarah Rehn, who switched between the setter and outside hitter positions throughout the match. Rehn finished with 13 kills, 27 assists, and 14 defensive digs. Emmy Blouin earned 14 kills and senior captain Erin Walker contributed 12 kills and a match-high eight total blocks.
After hitting at a .279 hitting percentage in winning the first game, UNH (2-10) struggled in the second game, earning as many errors as kills to let Siena (6-5) back in the match. The Wildcats struggled coming out of the locker room after the intermission, but recovered to win the third game. Siena outhit UNH in the final two games, notching 25 kills and making only nine errors while the Wildcats earned 19 kills but made 13 errors.
In the second match, Honore led the Saints with 13 kills, but the Owls coasted to 30-21, 30-15 and 30-21 wins. Setter April London had 32 assists in a nice effort against undefeated Florida Atlantic. The Saints will next be in action next weekend at the Quinnipiac Invitational.
