LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's soccer team (5-4-0) commenced their MAAC schedule at home with a blistering all-around offensive display in a 7-0 shutout of St. Peter's (1-8-0) this afternoon.
Sophomore Amy Loughridge (Guilderland, N.Y.) put the Saints on the board with the first two goals of the game. The first came on a converted penalty kick at the 6:03 mark followed by her second at the 24:04 mark off a pristine setup from junior Erin Morine (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). Loughridge wasn't finished yet as she later setup another goal bringing her single-game point total to five.
Junior Kristen Turner (Wappinger Falls, N.Y.) found the back of the net for the second time in as many games to close out the first half scoring at the 26:36 mark. Turner was able to turn the corner on her defender and that was all the advantage she needed as she blasted her shot past the Peahens goalie Andrea Kovalcik.
The Green and Gold poured it on after the intermission, lighting the scoreboard up four more times on 12 second-half shots.
Following a St. Peter's foul, senior tri-captain Corry Silon (Rockville Center, N.Y.) got just enough on her kick to get through the pipes at the 62:08 mark giving Siena a 4-0 advantage. The goal was setup by great communication as Loughridge added another point to her stats in finding the open Silon for the high percentage shot.
At 73:08, the Saints struck again Alicia Lackey (Niskayuna, N.Y.) mustered a centering pass that found a wide open Susie Blaisdell (Exeter, N.H.) in front of net for the easy scoring opportunity. The teamwork and passing continued on the next series as after a corner kick another centering pass, this time from Erinn Flaherty (Clifton Park, N.Y.), found its way to the foot of Tara Ross (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) who blasted home the Saints sixth goal.
Siena's final goal was the only one that didn't have an assist attached to it. At the 87:34 mark, Courtney Preziosi (Garden City, N.Y.) squared herself around to the goal at the top of the circle and found the hole at the top right corner of the goal.
The combination of Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y.) and Carey Winkler (Sand Lake, N.Y.) shutout the Peahens with 3 saves overall.
Erinn Flaherty added four points to her season total with a pair of assists to go along with her goal.
In all, nine Saints players added a point or more to their career totals in the second of a three-game homestand.
Siena has now won two in a row and three of their last 4 games.
The Saints conclude their three-game homestand on Sunday, Sept. 25, as they host MAAC rival Manhattan with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
