Final Stats
Junior Christie Gustafson had 24 kills as Siena salvaged its final match with a 3-1 win over host Holy Cross in Worcester Saturday. The Saints lost their first match of the day 3-2 to Binghamton.
The Saints dropped the first game of the nightcap 34-32, but rallied for 30-18, 30-28 and 30-22 wins in the next three games for its first win of the season.
Liz Hubbard and Janine Pesusich each added 10 kills for the Saints. Freshman setter April London had 54 assists. Classmate Kathi Kobayashi added 22 digs.
Earlier in the day, Siena lost a five-game heartbreaker to Tournament Champion Binghamton. Sophomore Nadiege Honore paced Siena's effort with 23 kills. Gustafson contributed 20 kills in losing effort.
Binghamton won the first game 30-28 and the second 30-27 before Siena rallied with 30-15 and 30-27 wins in games three and four. The Bearcats won the decisive fifth game 15-8.
