Loudonville, N.Y. - The Saints were defeated by Loyola this afternoon on Siena Field. Siena fell 2-1 at the hands of the Greyhounds snapping a three game winning streak. Loyola midfielder Lea Day posted two first half goals in the winning effort. Junior Chelsea Maguire (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied her second goal of the season.
Loyola got on the board early. In the ninth minute, Day blasted a shot from the right corner which ricocheted off the left post into the back of the net. Loyola outshot the Saints 15-13 on the game.
The Saints battled back in the 37th minute, when Maguire took a pass from midfielder Amy Loughridge (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) and jetted up the sideline. Maguire beat the Loyola defense and fired one past Greyhound goaltender Brittany Henderson. This was Maguire's second goal of the year.
The Greyhounds rallied 40 seconds later when Day netted the game winner. Day took a pass from midfielder Courtney Arikian and sent another cross goal shot past goaltender Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway). Carroll tallied five saves on the day.
The Saints drop to 6-5-2 overall, 3-1-1 in league play. They return to action Sunday versus Rider for Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
