Freshman Burgandy McCurty completed a near perfect weekend, killing half of her 26 attempts without committing an error as Siena defeated Manhattan 3-0 (30-17, 30-21 and 30-24) in Riverdale Sunday afternoon. McCurty did not commit a single attack error this weekend, killing 18 of 25 attacks in a loss at Iona Saturday.
The win snapped a two-game conference losing streak for Siena. The Saints improved to 8-2 in league play and 12-10 overall this season. Manhattan falls to 4-6 in the MAAC and 7-14 overall.
Senior captain Christie Gustafson had 12 kills and sophomore Nadiege Honore had eight kills to pace Siena's efficient offense, which posted a .322 attack percentage. The Saints also dominated play on defense, out-blocking Manhattan 13-8. Freshman Kaui Robello led the Saints with 13 digs. Kathi Kobayashi added 11.
Siena setter April London was credited with 40 assists, seven digs and three kills.
Manhattan was led by Whitney Judkins who killed 12 of her 26 attacks as the only Lady Jasper with double figure kills.
The Saints return to action Tuesday night in a TW3 and Siena All-Access telecast match against Syracuse in Loudonville.
