Final Stats

Loudonville, N.Y. - Senior Lauren Stys (Hooksett, N.H./Manchester Central) registered the game winner in the 89th minute leading the Saints past Niagara 4-3 this afternoon in Lewiston, N.Y. Second half goals by Christina Macera (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango), Alyssa Thayer (Hooksett, N.H./Manchester West) and Stys were enough to top the Purple Eagles. Siena improves to 5-2-1 in the MAAC.

Niagara jumped out to the lead in the fifth minute when sophomore Stephanie Gartley placed a shot over goalkeeper Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway) for her twelfth goal of the season. Carroll tallied six saves in the game. Just minutes later, junior Brittany Bisnott settled a cross from midfielder Shaylyn Lawrence and placed it into the back of the net.

The Saints retaliated just over a minute later when Stys blasted a shot past goalkeeper Sarah Stephens at the 10:15 mark.

In the 16th minute, Gartley added her second goal of the game. Gartley tracked down a loose ball in the box and lofted it over the defense into the back of the net.

The Saints rallied in the second half beginning with Macera's goal in the 60th minute. Macera accepted a pass from senior Erinn Flaherty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and fired it past the diving Stephens. Flaherty added two assists on the day.

Thayer tied the game at three in the 83rd minute when she added her second goal of the year off a feed from Flaherty. With just over a minute left in the game, Stys secured the win when she fired a pass from Thayer into the back of the net. This proved to be the game winner, and this marked Stys second of the season.

The Saints round out the regular season on Friday when they face Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. at 7 p.m.
