Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - Women's soccer topped Manhattan College 2-1 in Riverdale, N.Y. this afternoon. A late first half goal by freshman Christina Macera (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango) evened the match at 1-1. In the 54th minute, senior Lauren Stys (Hooksett, N.H./Manchester Central) posted the game winner. The Saints remain undefeated in the conference standing 2-0-1.
The Lady Jaspers struck first in the 28th minute when Christine Abrams posted her first goal of the season from eight yards out. Abrams took a pass from sophomore Caitlin Newkirk on the left side of the box, turned and placed it in the back of the net.
The Saints retaliated at the 38:01 mark. Junior Amy Loughridge (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) sent a pass to Macera who raced down the left side and fired a shot past the charging Jasper goaltender Alicia DeFino. In the 54th minute, Stys collected a rebound in front of the net and fired it past goaltender Caitlin Trupiano.
Sophomore Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway) registered another impressive performance tallying six saves. Carroll improves to 4-3-1 on the season.
The Saints return to action Sunday at Saint Peter's in a 1:00 p.m. start. Siena returns to Loudonville Friday for league action versus Loyola at 3:00 p.m.
