Final Stats
Junior Lindsey Lee had a match-high 19 kills and added 13 digs to lift Fairfield past Siena 3-1 (29-31, 30-26, 30-22, 30-24) in a match between the MAAC top two teams Saturday in Loudonville. Freshman Burgandy McCurty paced Siena with 17 kills as the Saints suffered their first conference loss of the season.
Siena (11-9/7-1 MAAC) charged back from an early deficit to win the first game 31-29. The Saints posted a .310 attack percentage in the first game, making effective use of the middle and outside. Fairfield (9-6/6-0 MAAC) rallied to take the second game 30-26, this time holding off a late Siena run. The Stags adjusted to the Siena attack nicely, turning away the middle and digging consistently from the back row on outside attacks.
Fairfield controlled the third game, building a large lead and holding on for an easy 30-22 win. In the fourth game the Stags broke free from a 20-20 tie to take a decisive 30-24 victory.
In addition to Lee, Kelly Oliver (16), Katie Mann (12) and Natalie Barber each had double digit kills for Fairfield. Brandi Higa had 20 digs to tie for a match-high for Fairfield.
Christie Gustafson returned to the Siena rotation for the first time in two weeks and tallied 12 kills and eight digs. Nadiege Honore had 11 kills and April London killed seven of her 14 attacks. Freshman Kaui Robello and sophomore Kelly Hummel also had solid games. Robello had 14 digs, three kills and a service ace, while Hummel had six kills in 13 attacks.
