Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - Women's soccer shutdown Saint Peter's 4-0 this afternoon in Jersey City, N.J. Senior Kristen Turner (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay) posted two goals on the day. Teammates Erinn Flaherty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and Christina Macera (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango) added a goal each. The Saints improve to 6-4-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play.
The Peahens had no answer for the Saints offensive attack this afternoon. Siena outshot Saint Peter's 16-5 on the day.
In the 9th minute, the Saints mounted their attack when Turner placed one past the Peahens goaltender to go up 1-0. Turner leads the team in scoring this season registering eight on the season. Flaherty added the second goal of the day at the 12:06 mark off a feed from junior Amy Loughridge (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland).
The Saints added two unassisted goals in the second half to secure the victory. Turner posted her second on the day in the 58th minute and Macera added another at 76:43.
Sophomore Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway) and senior Carey Winkler (Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) split time in net. They combined for two saves and registered a shutout.
The Saints return to action on Friday with Loyola at 3:00 p.m. on Siena Field. On Sunday, they take on Rider at 1:00 p.m. in Loudonville.
