Siena Victim Of Fox Hunt, Lose 68-55

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's basketball team (9-11, 5-6) fell short at the Alumni Recreation Center 68-55 to the Marist Red Foxes (15-5, 10-1) in front of 2,318 fans this evening. Sophomore Laura Menty posted her second double-double of the season in losing effort.

The Saints jumped out to the early lead on a Menty layin but the team had to wait nearly nine minutes for their next hoop. Marist broke out to an early lead behind a 13-minute 27-4 run and the Green and Gold never cut the deficit to any closer than the 13-point difference in the final score.

The Red Foxes took a 33-15 lead into halftime. Marist was led by the one-two punch of Fifi Camara and Meg Dahlman. The pair combined for 20 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-14 shooting before the break. They kept up the attack in the second half as Dahlman finished with a game-high 24 points and eight rebounds while Camara posted 15 points and grabbed nine caroms.

The Saints turned it on in the second half improved their shooting percentage from the first half (25%) to the second half (40%). The Green and Gold outscored Marist 40-35 in the second half.

Senior Whitney Cave had a team-high 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals while Menty posted 12 points and 10 boards for her fifth double-double of the season.

The Red Foxes displayed dominance in the paint winning the battle for points in the paint (32-24) and second chance scoring (11-5).

Siena now travels to play Rider on Sunday with a 3 p.m. tipoff with the Saints in search of their first road victory of the season. The Green and Gold will then return home to host Iona (2/10) and Loyola (2/12) next week at the ARC.
