Final Stats
Lawrenceville, N.J.- The Siena women's basketball (10-11, 6-6) team led for the final 35 minutes at the Alumni Gym in recording the team's first win outside of Albany this season, 78-49. Four Saints finish in double-figures and they double up the Broncs output on the boards 46-23.
Trailing 9-8, the Saints outscored Rider 33-14 over the halfs final 15 minutes. The Green and Gold came out blazing hitting on 62% of their first half shots and took a 41-23 lead into halftime. Sophomore Laura Menty spurred the Saints on offensively notching 11 first half points including a stretch of scoring seven straight points.
Menty led four Saints in double-figures with a game-high 18 points. Co-Captain Lauren Surber added 15 points and Katelyn Dooley chipped in 12. The backcourt combo combined to hit on 5-of-10 shots from the perimeter.
Senior Whitney Cave continues to improve posting her fifth double-double of the year and thirteenth of her career. She finished with 11 points and 10 caroms to go along with three steals.
The Green and Gold hit 19-of-22 free throw attempts for an 86.4% average. The Saints got 22 points of production from the bench. Siena grabbed 32 defensive rebounds compared to Rider's 10.
From the perimeter, Siena connected on 7-of-13 opportunities and held the Broncs to just 2-of-9 shooting.
The Broncs mini second half run brought them as close as 45-32. From that point on, Siena outscored Rider 33-17.
The Saints return home for a two-game homestand this week. The opening game is set for Friday as the Iona Gaels stride into town for the season's first meeting scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m. The Green and Gold then welcome Loyola to the ARC on Sunday with a 3 p.m. start time.
