WEST HARTFORD, CT - The Siena College women's golf team is in 10th place at the Hartford Invitational after the first round of play on Monday at Wampanoag Country Club.
The Saints combined to shoot a team score of 365 in the opening round and are 11 shots behind five teams, for a top five finish. St. John's University, which paced the field of 12 teams finished with a score of 326. Monmouth University's Rylee Plitz topped the individual leaderboard with a first-round 78, the only player in the field to break 80. Host Hartford is tied for second place with Boston College with a score of 337.
The Saints were led by sophomore Bridget Erwin who carded a team low 82 on the day, well enough for 14th place. Other Siena scores: junior Megan Angis (90, T-35th), senior Jillian Blanchard (93, T-41st), and seniors Rachel Scalzo (97, T- 46th) and Lauren Shai (106 - 59th)
The Hartford Invitational will wrap up on Tuesday with a final round of 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m.
