Loudonville, N.Y.- Women's soccer defeated Harford 2-1 at Siena Field Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. Junior Susie Blaisdell (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) posted the game winner off an assist from midfielder Chelsea Maguire (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) in the 61st minute.
The Saints attacked early on when Maguire took a pass from Kristen Turner (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay), broke free from the defense and fired a shot cross goal that trickled into the back of the net. Maguire posted three points in the winning effort and scored her first goal of the season.
Hartford rallied back early in the second half with a goal by forward Kacey Busque with 40:13 remaining. Busque accepted a right side feed from junior Sara Flowers in the center of the box and lofted it into the top right corner of the net.
The Saints battled back in the 29th minute when Blaisdell notched her first game winning goal of the season. Maguire acquired the ball on the right side, beat the defense as they fell to the ground and fed Blaisdell across goal who finished with 29:11 remaining on the clock.
Siena's defense was anchored by the solid play of goaltender Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway) who finished with seven saves. Most notably, in the 80th minute forward Meagan Riemer (Ellington, Conn./Ellington/Sacred Heart) got behind the Siena defense, fired an open look on goal that was stopped by the diving Carroll.
