Final Stats
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Women's soccer falls 2-1 to the Catamounts on the road this afternoon. Two Vermont second half goals by sophomore Lexie Kaknes and Jenny Solberg were enough to top the Saints.
The first half proved to be a battle at the midfield. Each team managed three shots on goal and brought the game into the half scoreless.
Vermont mounted their attack in the second half out shooting the Saints 12-3. In the 70th minute Kaknes one-timed a pass from Cassandra VanLeeuwen placing the shot off the far post into the net. Just over 10 minutes later freshman Jenny Solberg collected a pass from Carson Laderoute and blasted a shot that found the back of the net.
The Saints pressed in the final five minutes. In the 89th minute Kristen Turner (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay) slipped behind the Vermont defense to finish off a pass from midfielder Alyssa Thayer (Hooksett, N.H./Manchester West). The Saints continued to attack in the remaining minute but fell short as time ran out.
Sophomore Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway) recorded five saves on the day. Goaltender Eliza Bradley accumulated two stops in net.
The Saints face New Jersey Institute of Technology on Friday at 4 p.m.
