LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Women's soccer falls to undefeated Navy 4-0 in Annapolis this afternoon. After a scoreless first half, the Midshipmen exploded for four second half goals and improved to 10-0-0 on the season. Meggie Curran tallied two goals and an assist for Navy in the winning effort.
The first half proved to be a defensive stand; each team was held scoreless through the first 45 minutes. They combined for just eight shots in the first period.
The Midshipmen mounted their attack in the second half out shooting the Saints 17-5. Sophomore Julie Reynolds posted the first goal of the game when she gathered a rebound off the cross-bar and placed it past Saints goaltender Patti Carroll (Middle Grove, N.Y./Galway). Curran then tallied her first goal in the 77th minute assisted by forward Kari Weniger. Just minutes later Curran added her second goal of the game when she gathered a feed from Weniger on the right side and fired a shot cross goal to put the Midshipmen up 3-0. In the final minute of action, Weniger added a goal finishing with four points on the day.
Navy goaltender Lizzie Barnes tallied four saves in 90 minutes of action and remains undefeated this season (10-0-0). Carroll added five saves to her season total (24) and falls to 2-3-0 in net for the Saints this year.
Siena returns home on Friday to open conference play with Fairfield at 4:00 p.m.
