Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's golf team concluded a solid weekend of play finishing in fourth place at the Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J. Saturday. Freshman Katelynn Mannix (Beekmantown, N.Y./Beekmantown) had a stellar final round for the Saints shooting a 76 to finish in a tie for fourth individually.
Bethune-Cookman led all weekend long in capturing the team championship, while Yale finished second and St. John's in third. The Saints finished in fourth, twenty one strokes back of Bethune-Cookman.
For the weekend, it was newcomers that led the Siena attack as Mannix's effort was seconded by fellow freshman Catherine Shomo (Rutland, VT/Rutland) who finished five strokes back of Mannix with a combined +18 for the tournament.
The Saints will conclude fall play next weekend with the Lehigh Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. First round action begins Saturday.
