Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's swimming and diving team split their tri-meet this afternoon, defeating Mount St. Mary's 111-26 and falling to MAAC foe Loyola 79-60 in Baltimore, Md. Siena boasted first place overall times in seven of sixteen events and finished ahead of the Mount in all but one. Senior tri-captain Megan Dobbins (Huntington, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy) and freshman Brittany Pavolko (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) paced the pool for the Saints, each capturing two individual events on the day. With the split, Siena (7-2, 4-1 MAAC) is off to their best start in program history.

"The hard work and dedication that the girls have put in has made accomplishing this mark (program best start) that much more special," reflected Head Coach Greg Brown. "We've had a tough early schedule and the girls have earned every one of these victories."

Dobbins placed first in both the 50 and 100 free (:54.71) events. Her time of :24.82 in the 50 free was a career best and was just shy of the program record set by Ashley Serrago in 2005 (:24.74).

"She (Dobbins) had the best meet of her life today," remarked Brown. "She was absolutely phenomenal. There is not enough you can say about her performance today."

After not posting a win in her first event of the meet (200 medley relay), Pavolko stormed back to take first place times in her final three individual and relay competitions. The freshman won both the 100 (1:00.11) and 200 fly (2:13.18), while also teaming with Bridget Rowland, Allison O'Keefe and Caitlyn Biagioli to pace the pool in the 400 free relay (3:40.07). Pavolko has now won 15 of her last 16 individual and relay events.

Rowland capped off another solid performance by adding an overall individual win to her resume, nabbing first in the 100 back (:59.95). Biagioli represented the Saints other event winner of the day, as she took home first in the 200 back (2:10.41).

After an outstanding start, the Saints will now break for finals before returning to the pool next in 2008. Siena will host NJIT at the Siena Swim Center on Monday, Jan. 14 at 3 p.m.
