DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - Daytona Beach Community College's Rachel Edwards combined for a two-day score of 151, after firing a 77in the final round to lead the Falcons to a first place showing at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational with a 617 Sunday in Daytona Beach. The Saints, led by senior Laura Woolgar's (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) two-day posting of 160 (80-80), completed the tournament in seventh place with a team score of 670.
Individually for the Saints, juniors Melissa Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) and Bridget Erwin (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) ended their first spring invitational tied for 26th and 28th place, respectively. Agostinelli improved her play in the second round after firing an 83, a stroke lower than her first day score of 84 to finish with a combined score of 167, while Erwin mirrored her performance from the previous day with an 84, finishing with a 168.
Freshman Bridget Carr (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) ended the first spring tournament of her career with a combined 175 after finishing the second round a stroke lower than the first with an 87, while senior Megan Angis (Saco, ME) posted a 47th place showing on the scorecard with a two-day score of 190 (93-97). Rounding out individual play for the Saints, senior Samantha Rossi improved her play markedly in the latter portion of the tournament, five strokes better than her first day score of 101 to finish tied for 50th.
The Saints have nearly a month off to rebound before traveling back down to the Sunshine State to compete in the University of Cincinnati Invitational in Crystal River, Florida with the first round beginning on March 23.
