Nadiege Honore had 17 kills and Burgandy McCurty killed 15 of her 28 attacks as Siena topped Wisconsin-Green Bay 3-1 (24-30, 30- 27, 33-31, 30-25) in its season opener Saturday at the Chippewa Classic hosted by Central Michigan. Central Michigan defeated the Saints 3-0 (30-15, 30-19 and 30-18) in Siena's second match of the day.
Siena had three players post double digit kills in the opener as they rallied from a 30-24 setback in game one for victory. Freshman Aubrey Bobo had 14 kills in her collegiate debut to join Honore and McCurty.
The Saints also had three players tally double-figure kills. Setter April London led all players with 15 kills to go along with her match-high 48 assists. Kau'i Robello added 13 digs and Kathi Kobayashi had 10.
Siena posted a respectable .261 attack percentage and out-dug UW-Green Bay 80-71.
Liesl Steinbauer had a match-high 22 kills to lead UW-Green Bay.
In the nightcap, CMU controlled play from the start, dominating the opening game 30-15.
Kate Fissel led all players with 16 kills. McCurty and Bobo each had six of Siena's 24 kills in the match.
The Saints wrap up play in the Chippewa Classic with a 10 a.m. match against Robert Morris Saturday.
