Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's soccer team dropped it's not conference match 3-0 at Cornell this evening. Big Red forward Lena Russomagno notched what proved to be the game winning goal in the 3rd minute to help Cornell (2-3-0) get past Siena (1-3-0).
Cornell jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Just 2:20 into the contest, Russomagno managed to intercept a pass from Saints goalkeeper Patti Carroll and placed it in the back of the net. Soon thereafter, sophomore Lauren Lynn extended the Big Red's lead to 2-0 when she connected on one from 25 yards out.
Carroll completed the contest with a game-high three saves.
Siena and Cornell finished the match even with 14 shots apiece, however the Saints had a hard time placing them on goal. Over 90 minutes of action, Siena put just two shots on goal to Cornell's six.
At the 79:57 mark, Cornell put the game out of reach when Kara Lewis chipped one in from eight yards out. The Big Red would cruise to a 3-0 victory in the programs' inaugural meeting.
The loss drops Siena to 1-3-0 on the year. The Saints return to action on Sunday when they square off with Holy Cross in Loudonville at 1 p.m.
