Final Stats
Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's soccer team had its two game winning streak snapped this afternoon falling 5-2 at Quinnipiac (5-1-0). Sarah Lawlor's goal in the 61st minute proved to be the game winner for the Bobcats. Siena (3-4-0) forward Susie Blaisdell notched a goal and assist in the losing effort.
The Saints struck first just 1:17 into the contest when freshman forward Tabitha Tice headed a cross into the right corner putting Siena on top 1-0. This marked the third straight game Tice posted a goal.
Quinnipiac responded with five straight goals to gain a commanding 5-1 advantage over the Saints.
The Bobcats evened the game at 1-1 in the 11th minute when Justine Lombardi served a ball to Lauren Peacock who connected on her fourth goal of the season. Soon thereafter, Quinnipiac forward Susan Donovan notched her first of two scores when she collected a loose ball in the box and placed it into the top right corner.
In the 18th minute, Lawlor also notched her first of two goals on the afternoon giving the Bobcats a 3-1 advantage going into intermission.
Lawlor opened the scoring in the second half when she squeezed a shot just inside the left post with 60:48 on the clock. Donovan put the game out of reach shortly after when she broke free of the Saints defense and finished to put Quinnipiac ahead 5-1.
In the 68th minute, Blaisdell notched Siena's second goal of the contest when she sent a header into the back of the net off a cross from junior midfielder Chelsea Maguire.
Siena goalkeeper Patti Carroll earned the loss in net allowing five goals and posting six saves in 90 minutes of action.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday when they square off with cross-town rival UAlbany. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at UAlbany.
