Siena's Nadiege Honore had a team-best 11 kills and Burgandy McCurty added nine as the Saints topped Montreal 3-0 (30-16, 30-28, 30-21) in the first round of the Cornell Invitational Friday afternoon. April London added 33 assists, while Kathi Kobayashi and Aubrey Bobo tied with a team-best seven digs.
With the victory Siena improves to 4-3 on the season.
The Saints stormed to a 1-0 lead with a dominant 30-16 victory in game one. With the second game tied at 28-28, the Saints won the final two points to take a 2-0 lead. Siena used a 30-21 win in game three to complete the sweep.
Montreal was led by Leihla Michaelsen who had 11 kills. Guili Sarrapuchiello had 28 assists. Janie Guimond added 12 digs in the losing effort.
Siena plays Cornell at 1 p.m. tomorrow and Bucknell at 5 p.m.
