Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's swimming and diving team swept all events this afternoon in defeating visiting NJIT 138-22 in a non-conference meet at the Siena Swim Center. Competing in their first event of the New Year, the Saints showed no ill-effects from the time off as they continued their season to remember by improving to 8-2 with the victory.
"After more than a month without a meet, it was good for the team to get back in the pool today," noted Head Coach Greg Brown. "The team really came out and performed well and I was pleased with the performance."
Allison O'Keefe, Brittany Pavolko and Caitlyn Biagioli all won multiple events. O'Keefe captured pool pacing times in the 100 free (58.35) and the 1000 free (11:56.23). Meanwhile Pavolko and Biagioli continued to add to their stellar freshman seasons as Pavolko took home first in the 200 IM (2:17.89) and 100 back (1:01.53), while Biagioli led the Saints to wins in the 50 free (:25.61) and the 500 free (5:25.30).
The Saints will compete in three more dual meets over the final eight days of the regular season. Next up on the slate is a non-conference showdown with perennial power Vermont on Friday in the Green Mountain State. Events are set to get underway at 4 p.m.
