Final Stats
Burgandy McCurty had 25 kills, nine digs and six bocks as Siena improved to 10-2 in MAAC play with a comfortable 3-1 win over Canisius Sunday in Loudonville. Kau'i Robello had her second straight double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs and Kelly Hummel killed 16 of her 29 attacks.
The Saints opened the match with a 25-22, dominated the second set 25-14, lost the third 25-17 and led the entire way in a 25-16 win in the fourth.
Setter April London had 54 assists, nearly half going to Siena's magnificent middle hitter. McCurty had eight kills in the first set alone, and was very active at the net throughout the match.
The Saints dominated the match statistically, and controlled the action with the exception of the third set. Siena had 65 kills compared to 42 for Canisius. The Saints posted a .317 hitting percentage, out-dug Canisius 56-48 and had a 10-8 edge in blocks. Canisius had all seven service aces in the match.
Despite McCurty's dominance, Siena received solid contributions up and down its rotation. Brianne Bobo played a strong match with eight kills and 14 digs and Hummel was as efficient has she has been all season in finishing from the outside.
Renee Lettow led the Griffs, who lost for the second straight match, with 11 kills.
Siena moved into second place by itself in the MAAC standings with the victory. The Saints had lost to the Golden Griffins in five sets earlier this year in Buffalo.
