LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - A balanced team effort led the Siena Swimming and Diving team to a tri-meet sweep this afternoon over visiting Howard and NJIT at Siena Swim Center. The Saints evened their record to .500 (4-4) with a 68-24 triumph over Howard and an 80-4 defeat of NJIT.
Additionally, Howard defeated NJIT head-to-head 56-8. In men's action, Howard captured a 103-73 victory over the Highlanders.
All tolled, the Saints captured eight first place times in 11 scored events on the women's side. In all, eight different Saints registered first place individual or relay times. Leading the way were Molly Chamberlain (200 free, 200 free relay), Brittany Pavolko (200 IM, 200 free relay), Katie Carew (400 free relay, 100 fly), Caitlyn Biagioli (400 free relay, 100 free), MaryAnn Gaffuri (100 back, 200 free relay) and Lauren Maxwell (400 free relay, 100 breast) who all won two events apiece.
Howard's Nzingha Murphy (50 free, 500 free) won the only two events not captured by a Siena women's swimmer.
The Saints return to action with their final meet of the calendar year in two weeks on Dec. 20 at Sacred Heart. Events are set to get underway in Bridgeport, Conn. at 1 p.m.
