LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's soccer team defeated Vermont 3-1 Friday afternoon in Burlington, Vt. The win moves the Saints to 4-0 and marks their first victory in Burlington in the all-time series.
The Saints won with a balanced attack featuring three different goal scorers. Freshman Lindsay Tegas scored her first career goal in the 23rd minute on a header from a Stephanie DiMari cross.
Sophomore Cara Riley extended the lead to 2-0 just before halftime when she scored on a 25-yard blast.
The Saints made it 3-0 in the 65th minute when Ashleigh Barone played a through ball to Tabitha Tice who beat goalkeeper Jess Rosene one-on-one. Rosene made four saves in the loss.
Vermont's (1-5) Sasha Morey ended the shutout in the 78th minute on a 45-yard shot that sailed into the top corner.
Siena returns to action next Friday (Sept. 19) against Sacred Heart in Albany for the Governor's Cup.
