Elizabeth Rice, Molly Chamberlain and Brittany Pavolko all won two events apiece as the Siena swimming and diving team cruised to a 148-94 victory at Canisius this afternoon to complete a sweep of their Western New York trip. The surging Saints (6-4, 3-2) have now won four consecutive meets and finish the conference portion of their schedule above .500 for a second straight season.
"I thought that we showed a lot of heart and gave an outstanding effort today," head coach Greg Brown said. "It was a complete team effort and everyone contributed to the win."
The Saints won nine of 13 events and spread out the recognition with seven different members accounting for eight individual event wins.
Rice dominated both the low and high boards, posting career-highs in winning the 1M (236.4) and 3M (217.88) dives. Chamberlain tallied an individual victory in the 100 free (:55.46), while combining with three teammates to pace the pool in the 400 medley relay. Pavolko meanwhile captured the 200 IM (2:16.34) and teamed with Chamberlain as part of the 400 MR winning team.
Additional Siena event winners on the day included Allison O'Keefe (500 free), Bethany Fried (1650 free), Caitlyn Biagioli (200 free) and senior captain Rachel McShane (50 free).
The Saints return to action next Saturday to conclude their three game road trip at Saint Francis (Pa.). Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
